They are even more effective than silica gel or Activated Alumina, because of their crystalline composition; they can create virtually water-free products. These sieves are very useful in cryogenic operations where liquefaction of gases is required and water must be eliminated to avoid freezing.

Regeneration of zeolite molecular sieve:
The molecular sieve can be regenerated through evacuating or purging under high temperatures. The purge gas temperature should be high enough to heat this molecular sieve to temperatures from 250°C to 300°C. and the properly regenerated molecular sieve can produce dew points below -100°C, mercaptans and CO2 levels <2 ppmv.
