Molecular sieves refer to a class of substances with uniform micropores and the pore size is equivalent to that of general molecules. Molecular sieves are widely used and can be used as high-efficiency desiccants, selective adsorbents, catalysts, ion exchangers, etc. However, the cost of using chemical raw materials to synthesize molecular sieves is very high. Commonly used molecular sieves are crystalline silicates or aluminosilicates, which are formed by silico-oxygen tetrahedrons or alumino-oxy tetrahedrons connected by oxygen bridges to form pores and cavities of molecular size (usually 0.3~2 nm) , Due to the different size and shape of adsorbed molecules, it has the ability to screen fluid molecules of different sizes.

(1) Organic sulfur should be removed in the desulfurization and decarbonization unit as much as possible, and the total sulfur content of the feed gas entering the dehydration unit must be studied in detail to ensure the normal operation of the molecular sieve dehydration unit to the greatest extent.

(2) Regardless of whether it is 3A molecular sieve or 4A molecular sieve, the adsorption time is within 8~24h, and the regeneration time is 8~12h.

(3) The key to selecting molecular sieve is to determine whether the raw gas contains organic sulfur components such as COS. In the case of organic sulfur components such as COS, the choice of 3A molecular sieve can avoid a sharp increase in the sulfur content in the regeneration gas, and can reduce the accumulation of organic sulfur in the system; in the case of no organic sulfur components, choose 3A and 4A molecular sieve can be used, but because 4A molecular sieve can absorb H2S and other S components, 4A molecular sieve can better meet the production requirements.

Precautions for molecular sieve storage:

1. Molecular sieve is very easy to absorb moisture. It should not be directly exposed to the air during storage and should be placed in a dry place. Molecular sieves that have been stored for a long time and have absorbed moisture should be regenerated before use.

2. Molecular sieve avoids oil and liquid water. Oil can block the pores of the molecular sieve. Especially during regeneration, the oil may be carbonized, causing clogging of pores. For the gas containing oil, the oil and water should be separated first before the molecular sieve tower. Since the molecular sieve releases heat when it absorbs water, a large amount of heat is released when the liquid water directly contacts the molecular sieve. Dangers may occur, or the performance of the molecular sieve may be destroyed.

3. When the molecular sieve tower working under pressure is undergoing regeneration switching, the internal pressure of the tower should be slowly reduced. If the pressure reduction speed is too fast, the molecular sieve particles may be broken and powdered. The higher the regeneration temperature, the safer the regeneration, but at the same time the greater the energy consumption of regeneration, and the lifetime of the molecular sieve may also be shortened. Therefore, the regeneration temperature is more suitable between 200-350°C. The regeneration temperature should generally not exceed 600°C, otherwise the molecular sieve may lose activity.
